Publishing a note

Orb menu › Publish puts a note at a link on antinotes.app — open to anyone with the link, or encrypted behind a passphrase. Links expire (30 days by default, 90 at most), display settings choose the appearance, theme, text size and font readers see, and Settings › Published notes lists every link with its state, views and expiry.

Updated for iOS 1.65

Publishing a note

Design Intent: A note becomes a link in one tap, and the link looks after itself: it expires on its own, and nothing about you travels with it — no account, no email.

Publish

  • Orb menu › Publish puts the note you're on at a link on antinotes.app. The link is on the sheet the moment it's ready, with copy and open buttons beside it (turn on Copy link after publishing in Settings to have every new link land on the clipboard too). Publishing needs the Lifetime license; the trial can't publish.
  • Anyone with the link can read it. Pages are hidden from search engines, but a link is not a secret — treat it like any link you'd send.
  • Readers see the note the way you do: lists and checkboxes, math results, code blocks, your shortened links. They can't edit it.
  • Update: open Publish on the same note again and tap Update. The link stays the same and readers see the new text. Nothing updates on its own.
  • Attachments never go. Words, checklists, links and keyword results do; photos, files and sketches stay on your devices.

Passphrase notes

  • Choose "Only with a passphrase" in the sheet. The note is encrypted on your device before it leaves; antinotes.app stores text it cannot read, and the reader's browser decrypts it once the passphrase is typed. Share the passphrase separately from the link.
  • A locked note (Face ID) opens the sheet with a passphrase already chosen for you. You can switch it to open.
  • Change the passphrase later from Settings › Published notes. Readers with the old one lose access.

Expiry

  • Every link expires: 30 days unless you choose otherwise, from 1 hour up to 90 days. Updating a note gives it a fresh expiry.
  • Up to 25 notes can be published at a time. An expired or unpublished note stays in your list so you can publish it again — under a new link.

Display settings

Chosen in the publish sheet, under Display settings, and changeable later without uploading the text again.

  • Appearance: follow the reader's system, or always light or always dark.
  • Theme: your own light and dark themes to start with; pick any built-in or custom theme for each. Custom themes travel with the note as colours, so readers see them without having them.
  • Text size: Default, or Billboard — the text fills the screen as large as it can, for a quote you mean to screenshot.
  • Font: System, Monospace, or Inter, Source Serif 4, JetBrains Mono, IBM Plex Sans, IBM Plex Mono, Literata or Atkinson Hyperlegible. It starts on the closest match to your editor font.

Published notes

  • Settings › Published notes lists everything you've published: title, state (Live · Hidden after a report · Expired · Unpublished), when it expires, how many views it has, and the link. Expired and unpublished notes drop off the list — publish the note again from the note itself.
  • Each row's menu: Open link, Copy link, Update, Change passphrase, Display settings, Unpublish (in red).
  • Reported: anyone reading a note can report it, and a reported note is hidden at once, without review. If that was a mistake, write to [email protected]. Three reported notes pause publishing for the account.
