Gestures
Pull past the top or bottom, two-finger tap and swipe on the note, swipe or hold the orb — each gesture runs an action you choose in Settings › Gestures.
Updated for iOS 1.65
Gestures
Design Intent: Every gesture does one thing you chose. Nothing is hidden behind a gesture you did not set up.
Note gestures
- Pull down past the top — default: New note.
- Pull up past the bottom — default: Go to latest.
- Two-finger tap — default: Toggle ephemeral/slotted.
- Two-finger swipe left / right — default: None.
- Release a pull when the badge lights up. Three-finger swipes are iOS's own undo and redo.
- Pinch the note to step the text size up or down.
Orb gestures
- Swipe up — default: New note.
- Swipe right — default: Go to latest.
- Swipe left — default: Select mode (see Select mode).
- Swipe up-left, swipe up-right, press and hold — default: None. Assign them in Settings › Gestures.
- Swiping down is not assignable on purpose — it is too easy to hit by accident.
- Orb gestures are part of the Lifetime license; note gestures are free.
What a gesture can do
- App: Go to latest, Search, Browse archived, The Void, Toggle ephemeral/slotted, Settings; New note, New note from clipboard / image / camera / audio; Share note, Read aloud, Lock/unlock note, Toggle read-only, Archive note, Delete note; Undo, Redo.
- Quick actions: anything a quickbar button can do — special keyboards, dictation and capture, text transforms, list operations, formatting, your text snippets and quick commands.
- Gesture choices sync between your iPhones and iPads when preference sync is on (Settings › Sync & Privacy › What syncs › Gestures).
