Antinote 2.1.0

Antinote 2.1.0 is out. The headliners are full localization in 11 languages and indented checklists (shipping as a beta — more on that below), alongside a long list of sync and editor fixes.

New

Antinote in your language

Full localization in 11 languages — Arabic, Chinese (Simplified & Traditional), French (including Canadian French), German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese (Brazil & Portugal), and Russian. Pick your language in Settings independently of macOS, and if your system language just became supported, Antinote asks once whether to switch or stay in English.

Translations start as an AI first pass, and volunteers are reviewing every language by hand — if you'd like to help polish your language, join us in Discord.

Indented checklists — beta

Checkboxes, bullets, and numbered lists now nest: Tab and Shift+Tab indent and outdent items, nested numbered lists label themselves a., ii., and ⌘⇧K checks off the line you're on. The caret treats list markers as structure — arrows hop over them instead of stepping through invisible characters.

We're calling this beta: some formatting rough edges remain, mainly around wrapped and indented lines. A ground-up rework of the checklist engine is already in testing for the next update.

Jump to slots with ⌘1–⌘9

Off by default — flip it on in Settings and every slot gets its own shortcut (existing bindings that collide are reassigned automatically).

Timers that end at a time

timer 9AM counts down to 9 AM, not for a duration.

⌘X cuts the current line

With nothing selected, ⌘X cuts the line the cursor is on.

Create from search

No results? Press Enter and a new note is created from what you typed.

Per-pane themes

The slotted pane can wear its own theme and background, in split view or on its own.

Extensions straight from GitHub

Install an extension from any GitHub repo, public or private — and extension sync payloads are now end-to-end encrypted, like your notes.

Improved

  • Sync produces fewer conflict notes: whitespace-only differences never conflict, conflict notes expand shortened links back to full URLs, duplicated tutorial notes heal themselves, and slots consolidate consistently across devices.
  • Empty notes skip The Void, and deleting a slotted note clears it in place.
  • Entering slotted mode for the first time shows how to get back (⌘T).
  • The menu-bar timer keeps a stable width — no more menu bar shuffle as digits tick.

Fixed

  • Typing Thai and other tall scripts could hang the app; list rows now align correctly for Thai, Indic scripts, and emoji.
  • Japanese/Chinese input: composition works properly in the editor and in search, and ⌘F reliably focuses the search field.
  • The app follows system light/dark mode reliably.
  • Split panes no longer swap sides when switching slotted notes.
  • Dragging text over a note is no longer swallowed by the image-drop layer.
  • Menu shortcuts bound to uppercase keys fire correctly.
  • Vim mode: an absurd count prefix no longer crashes the app, and arrows scroll line-by-line at the viewport edges.
  • Shift-Page Down no longer yanks the viewport back to the selection start.
  • Math: bare commas inside function calls now read as argument separators.

Please keep reporting bugs on Discord — we're on them.
